three-dimensional metrology

Learn a little more about three-dimensional metrology, how it works and its role within BRANIVA's services.

Learn all about 3D Metrology

Learn more about three-dimensional metrology and how it is capable of performing three-dimensional inspections as quality control, which are done through the MMC (Coordinate Measuring Machine). With that, you will certainly be interested in this important service offered by Braniva.

Through this system it is possible to know the exact position of any point in this three-dimensional space from an already known point.

All data is sent to the computer, which is responsible for calculating the dimensions of the machining part produced by your company.

Ensure all the quality of Braniva three-dimensional metrology services and count on the best understanding and operation of the market.

Definition of three-dimensional metrology

To better understand its operation, it should be noted that the device has a coordinate system with three axes (X, Y and Z), two in plane and one in height.

CMM machines have a sensor, which can be mechanical, electronic or optical, which obtains the coordinates of the part surfaces.

The mechanical sensor has a hard, steel-like material surface. The electronic sensor, on the other hand, has a sensitive tip to perform the measurement that is passed on to the computer through electronic signals.

And optical sensors use microscopes and lasers to measure the surfaces of the part through direct contact with the sensor. But all CMMs can work from manual or computer commands.

When using a manual machine, all measurement, reading and calculation steps are done by one operator. However, this procedure is used only for training, due to the possibility of generating large errors.

Upon receiving this data, the computer processes and calculates the measurements received and provides a report that identifies the dimensions of the part.

Therefore, the way to guarantee the accuracy and conformity of the measurements is to use CNC machines, that is, they are driven by a numerical command made solely by a computer.

In this case, advanced software and computer are used, capable of performing large-scale calculations, since the first measurement is made by the operator and the rest is placed in automatic mode and repeated by the system several times.
